Let's say you're an average person with a 9 to 5 job, what would you rather do, secure a mortgage to buy a house or rent it?

Buying property is smart if you have stable income, renting is burning money and making your landlord rich

It varies based on factors. For a new house you can buy, go for it. For an older one, there could be hidden issues.
When renting, you have time to leave if unsatisfied, though breaking the lease might incur costs.
On the other hand, by buying the house, it remains yours as long as you can afford it, while renting, depending on the landlord's needs, might lead to eviction. Renting is essentially spending money that may not lead to ownership, except in rent-to-own scenarios.
A few years ago, I decided to stop renting and buy my own house, and I think it's the best decision I've made. Many insecurities that you have when renting go away. Furthermore, the feeling of independence is much more satisfying this way.

TLDR: my opinion is to buy if you can

depends on interest rate, income, and what you predict the markets will do. you dont want to be paying for a mortgage that is worth more than your house is worth because value dropped

bro I lived in hotels more than in my family-s house .. I think that nowadays it is not so important to stay fixed in one country , in one city in one house... The world changed and we got NO anchors... Until you will got a family / You donno need a stable place .. Maybe when You-ll have a family / they shall stay in a proper house .. But if You are alone / it doesn't count at all.. I stay in Hotel and have never cleaned, cooked or paid taxes or else .. Just spend 50$ a day for all , including food , home and freedom

You can only do that if you have a lot of money, people renting houses are to poor to get 20% downpayment so renting is a stupid idea

I believe renting a home is better than buying in many cases. The flexibility to move around seems advantageous.

But don't you miss out on equity and investment value by renting instead of owning?

you don't build home equity as a renter but properties can also depreciate in value and involve maintenance costs. What do you see as the main pros of buying?

Home ownership provides more stability, especially for families. You can customize a home to your needs and leave a legacy.
