Yeah that sucks, but that what we have at our disposal, you cannot ever be sure that your hardware itself doesnt contain a spying mechanism (bc its closed-source), On top of that, google hardware raises more concerns but they offer the best mobile security comparing to any other OEMs, mobile devices is the lowest when it come to OPSEC, I do not expect you to use it for any sensitive purpose.
