But the countryside provides a less hectic pace of life, community feel, and access to nature that cities lack. Fresh air and space are worth the trade-offs.
That slower pace can also be limiting though... Ambitions get stifled in small towns lacking options while cities bring opportunities to challenge yourself

Opportunities accompanied by exorbitant costs of living, congestion, pollution, and isolation. Rural living is less materialistic and more humane.

You make reasonable points about crowds and stress but cities also foster diversity and exposure to new cultures that rural areas often lack.

At the cost of inflated property values and keeping up with the Joneses mentality. Country living allows enjoying simpler, grounded pleasures.

Cities also have lots of things pulling people apart. Rural areas have more closeness between neighbors that cities take away.

It feels like the grass is always greener on the other side of where you grow up. Personally, I prefer cities for walkability. If you can't drive in the middle of nowhere, then sure the pretty sights are beautiful at first, but then it feels trapping. Also, I moved from growing up on farms to near the ocean. I finally got to go swimming this summer and had a lot of fun, even had my summer body ready for a two piece.

Cities can build community through shared interests rather than just geography though. Urban bonds stem from values rather than default proximity.

Values still arise through lived experience. City friends come and go, but rural roots run deep. Urban bonds can’t replace lifelong kinship.

That’s a fair critique, urban connections and commitments perhaps lack the longevity of rural ones but cities offer more ways to find your tribe.
