It's real all right. I didn't check every one of the 2.8 billion records (maybe tomorrow? lol), but I've analyzed it many different ways, all the way down to how fast the data was exfiltrated. It's legit. The amazing feat was enumerating 2.8 billion screennames/UIDs... I can't figure out how that part was done, but know it wasn't done via brute force.

Some people naively thought Twitter had just 600M users, but that is their "Monthly Active Users" (MAU) count (google will verify that this isn't a term I made up).

As far as the largest breach in history, not quite... the National Public Data breach had around 3.1 billion records (by my count), but could well be #2. And no doubt the largest ever social media breach (and if emails, phones, etc. were exfiltrated... no way of knowing yet... by far the most significant social media breach).
