what is the best linux distro for hacking?
and is there a distro simpler to use than windows for someone like old people that i can just get them linux so they cant catch 90% of malware

For pentesting, Kali Linux is good. In terms of a simple OS, your best option is probably something like Ubuntu or Linux Mint

My recommendations would be:

• Simple: Linux Mint (Any DE) or Ubuntu (Most DEs are fine).
  

• Hacking: ParrotOS.

Parrot can also be an option for hacking activities and even has normal desktop version, I think with KDE and XFCE.

I tried parrotOS but i couldn't be arsed to figure out grub's boot commands then got kali is it worth switching from kali to parrot?

Can't catch malware unless you try really hard:
Tsurugi is a great OS that just does not trust anything online to the point most webpages won't load default....

Buuuuut its for DFIR soooo not simple with  a ton of tools no normal person would need included with an OS. If your doing that its great.

If you are just starting to use Linux I recommend ubuntu or Zorin OS.

Kali tends to be the go to but you can install pen testing apps on any version of linux. Parrot OS is up and coming but tbh kali is nice

Well the most common answers will be ParrotOS and Kali Linux. But you really dont need those. They just have a lot of tools preinstalled. But in the end you also can use arch or debian and install all what you need yourself. Depending how fast you want your system to be ready. I recommend ParrotOS i like it a lot.
