As seen here in a RaidForums postbit (of a quite.. unwelcome member), RaidForums offered Gradients and custom userbars.
Some other things RF offered was Discord usernames, OS and things like that on profile
Offering stuff like this to God ranked users, may increase god purchases but you could also give them to a paid subscription (Money $$$)

I mean, yeah, there are LOTS of things better than wasting time on making profiles look cool but...
