I think Proton is a decent company. They provide data to LE because they are required by law to do so, and that applies to every single company operating under the law. One advantage of Proton is that it’s located in Switzerland, and benefits from the privacy laws there. I’m not sure if I’d entrust my data to the lesser known providers recommended by others here either.

Definitely a good alternative to Google/MS/Apple products and cloud solutions. But the thing is, dont put everything on it. Use it for real-life day-to-day needs, and if you need more security/anonimity, go for onionmails or other mail services on TOR
