Will AI create more or less breaches

I hear big companies say their AI products will stop attacks and reduce breaches.

However, some experts say AI could be used to discover new types of attacks and make breaches more common.

I'm curious which idea is correct.  Maybe both?

It will increase attacks, initally. It may be used for defense.

When the gun came out, you were fucked. You didn't have one.

Then , you got a gun, and you were .. still fucked because you didn't have the skill or experience as the guy that had it before you, had.

Then eventually, you died, or you maybe got on the same level, maybe surpassed him, maybe killed him instead. Took a lot of time , trial and error. Not to mention the cost and effort involved in the bullet crafting, initally getting the gun to begin with, maybe you sold your wife or your second born, who knows.

The effectiveness of AI depends on who uses it, as it is just a tool. Companies can use it to strengthen their defenses through early threat detection and rapid responses. However, it could also be leveraged to develop more sophisticated and harder-to-detect attacks. AI can both reduce and increase security breaches, depending on how it is employed.

it might defend against less sophisticated attacks. on the other hand, some companies have shit cyber defense, so those low hanging fruit are going to get hit hard by some of the basic stuff ChatGPT pushes out.

Just like in war, when weapons are upgraded, your offensive capabilities are strengthened, while defensive capabilities are also bolstered.
It doesn't result in a one-sided situation.
If there ever is a completely one-sided scenario, it would mean that the cybersecurity industry is about to collapse.

An insufferable phrase;

"Universal appeal is poison masquerading as medicine. Horror is not meant to be universal. It's meant to be personal, private, animal"
