Proof of work is just a pretty neat barrier to DoS/spam attacks, it essentially sets a minimum computational requirement.

Do you have any resources to recommend to learn more about PoW? Joining this site was the first time I've come across this but the approach seems way more efficent than email verification. Wish more sites would use it so my email inbox and hidden addresses didn't get so cluttered.
