I have several friends telling me that using Tor is secure, but not necessarily anonymous. Do you recommend that I use .onion sites? Thanks.

Rule of thumb is to use onion sites when possible while on tor

From what I understood, using the Tor browser hides your IP from the server your connecting to (and also your ISP), be it a normal or an .onion domain. From the server point of view, using .onion allows the server to hide its IP.

If a server wants to use a .onion domain, it needs to install tor and listen for incoming requests through it.

Imo I don't see a difference between visiting breachforums.rs and visiting their onion link, as I'm always having my IP hidden due to me using the Tor browser.

If I'm wrong, tell me.
