Can anybody confirm that the database contains data also from Canada and the UK? And if it's there, is it mixed in with the US data or not?

This just contains US data. Data from Canada and the UK has not been released.

The thing is that you need someone both with the skills to do it, and the willingness to post it. I've got one but not the other.

I did it with Twitter (not realizing it was quite the huge leak it was), but with the SSNs here, this is a "hot potato", and something I wouldn't even think of touching.

Once the public realizes that SSNs have now lost all usefulness, the government is going to have to spend a ton of money coming up with something to replace SSNs. Some congressman is going to push to get someone indicted over this. If they can't get someone at the top (like the person who did it or someone selling it for big bucks), getting someone who posted the SSN of nearly every US citizen would be better than nobody. I'm not a hacker... I may fly a bit close to the sun at times, but am very careful not to get too close (not intentionally breaking the law)... which also means that I'm someone the government wouldn't have a hard time tracking down. OpSec isn't my first priority in life.

You need someone like Pompompurin to post it, who was 100% certain he would never get caught.

I am starting to highly doubt that this is actually a full database leak. Out of the 20+ people I have searched for I have only found 5. Anyone else have similar findings?

You have a lot of faith in the US government. I suspect after the administrative finger waging not much will come from this legislatively. It seems far fetched but I wouldn't put it past some big firms trying to push cyber security insurance similar to corporate cyber security insurance policies.

I've completed importing into an SQL database. Took a while to process and import the data. Definitely break it up into more manageable chunks.

Did you index the database? If so, how long did it take?
