C/C++ is used for most Ransomware. Go can be used, especially if you're trying to make ransomware that's cross platform. Rust is also sadly becoming one of the more used languages for ransomware and malware as a whole.

In terms of learning them or learning how to write ransomware, I would just do a lot of research on how ransomware actually works and get into the details about file headers created by ransomware, how their cryptography works and what has been effective for them. There are also plenty of open source projects that may not be amazing but will give you a starting place for starting to understand the internals of ransomware.

use C/C++ and assembly will come in handy.

C/C++ and Go is the way to go. Try doing a lot of research about how ransomwares actually work. Peace! Cool.

C++ is one of the best for these kind of projects. Look at my open source RansomTuga, if you need inspiration and if you need help don't hesitate to ask Big Grin

I have always worked at a very low level with C, but I have never researched malware as such in depth. I would like to know if everything you mentioned in the first paragraph is applicable for malware in general. And also why you said that rust is sadly becoming one of the most used languages for malware. Thanks in advance!

My comments about Rust were made out of preference. I understand that some people genuinely enjoy programming in Rust, I just hate it myself. I will admit that it is a very memory safe programming language to use and is becoming extremely fast.

Everything I said in the first paragraph does apply to most malware, but it really comes down to what you like writing in. Some people even write malware in Python which sounds horrible but they do. Many languages will work fine including C.

I've just watched some Rust snippets and I think I understand why... Big Grin I have always heard people saying that they didn't like Rust, but I never understood why. I also remember that it was spoken of as the "successor of the C language", and now that I have read the advantages that you comment, it fits me.

Thanks for your response!
