It is unrealistic to expect from yourself to be happy every day. Life has a few moments of happiness, a few moments of extreme sadness and the rest is life neutral. Unless if you are on drugs but the high does not last long either. It is better to try to be joyful and then you can find something to enjoy every day. Some good food, good music, good friends. This is not unrealistic.

First it depends on your personality. And I doubt its possible to maintain happiness everyday. Think of positive things focus on the positive aspects of everything, avoid negativity and depressing stuff like news and so on. Do something thats fun and you like. But this becomes especially difficult if you have to do a shitty job for living.
