I'm curious to know how people are able to transfer large amounts of data (e.g 1TB) from the website they've breached to their whonix, wouldn't the IP change leading to the download get cancelled?

Wouldn't the download speeds be to slow?

Sorry for the newb question, breaching isn't my first language.

I don't think anyone downloads such a large amount of data on their machine directly, does not make a lot of sense, but if they wanted to, they could potentially build a tunnel to internet using a VPN or whatever that will give them a fix outbound address. Hopefully the VPN infrastructure won't care much if you change your IP.

Most probably, people use jump burn boxes like VPS and the like, download everything on them and then on their machine.

And of course you can split this data into smaller chunks that will be usable even if you get busted before your 3 days download is over.

you do not download the whole thing at once
you download it in chunks

lets say you are downloading a 1tb file
you split it on a ton of smaller chunks, them
you download each chunk at time

that way wont lose the entire file in case a
download breaks

most people code their own download mechanisms
downloads this large can take several days to finish

Oh okay this makes a lot of sense splitting it into chunks, thanks for the explaination.
Infact I think this is the most straight forward way for an individual to go about it - having a script to download it in chunks.
