I’m not sure how familiar you are with RF, but if you’re just starting out, I totally recommend diving into the basics through ham radio PDFs, books and forums. Good luck, and have fun learning!

Depends on your objectives, the PN532 is a great start if you want to DIY (assuming you want to stay away from flipper due to it being premade). The proxmark is a great alternative as well, with more targeted capability allowing you to perform all sorts of actions such technology specific cracking attacks (such as nested attacks on MIFARE cards). From a replay perspective Gen4 cards are the best as they are harder to detect that it's a copy in comparison to gen1a or gen2 where readers can have the ability to challenge the card and using emulation such as what the flipper does is more detectable than gen4 cards. If you are talking more about general RF replay you can get an RTL SDR for smaller ranges and a hackRF or yardstick for more in depth analysis
