Crazy stuff. Do a little digging around online - see how this was actually done. Impressive stuff.
It turned out that not only did they get to make the injected explosives detonate, they made them explode after a short delay from the fake message arriving on the pager - that way the victim would hear the pager beep or feel it vibrate and think a real message had arrived. They would then lift the pager up to their face and then BANG.
Videos of the aftermaths are not pretty, as you can imagine.
