On one hand he might simply be an autistic weirdo and didn't intend it to be a nazi salute... On the other hand pretty much everyone knows what a gesture like that means. The fact that he has been catering to the far right for so long now, makes me believe he knew full well that this was going to end up being a shitshow and he did it on purpose.

Agreed. Given the reputation that man has for his rhetoric, throwing your right arm up with a flat palm is just bad optics, even if he didn't mean it, the smartest man on the planet still couldn't read the room, unless he did and thats what he took away from it.

He definitely knows what he's doing-- it's not an accident. I think he's testing the water to see how much controversy he can get away with and spread some hate along the way.
