I can't count how many people I met and told me this when subject came in the conversation. Could be related to Surveillance capitalism and State surveillance. When someone said this, i have some tricks to make them understand the problem of this statement. "Unlock your phone and give it to me" or "Show me the 10 first messages". They back up instantly. So i try to explain, You have something to hide. It's called basic privacy. Even if you don't do shaddy things, it's a basic principle. I don't know anyone that doesn't lock his front door when he left his house.

When @termit said "2 faces of the same coin", somehow i agree. We saw this with Cambridge analytica case.

@the_one_who_phishes we still have some counter mesures. It demands some work but it is possible. At this point, it's more : What type and how much data i want to give and send and how much i don't want. Could be related to basic opsec. Of course, there is a time when you'll print some tracks to identify you. Don't think that it's a bad things too. Or you have to be completely off grid

I'm gonna try that test with people actually Smile

Believe me, you won't be disapointed. Report to us when it's done Wink

Interesting. Could you tell us why this preference ?

Often it's a close partnership as we saw in the Twitter Files.
When it can't buy data from the private sector, it buys the data from foreign countries where it's legal for them to spy on you.

If my memory is right, Twitter Files was more about Opinion Management right ?
But the fact that there is collaboration between private and public sector regarding data is interesting. Could be called intersectoral surveillance ? What are your thoughts about this ? It's ok but it depends on the purpose of this collection ?
