I disagree. Some crimes warrant the death penalty as just punishment. It deters future criminals too.

Does it really deter though? Numbers show death penalty don't have lower murder rates. It's not an effective deterrent as you claimed.

That may be true, but it still serves society by eliminating the worst criminals and preventing future harms. It's just desserts.
