I much prefer to watch the series, I find it rather pleasant while reading is in black and white

I would say watch. When the anime was announced, I tried the manga, but dropped it after some chapters. The style and action is way more fit for an anime and I really like the adaption, great visuals, sound and pacing. The manga was... boring? I just can't get into action / shonen manga. It's a genre way more fit for anime.
