In February 2017, after leaving the Air Force, Daniel Hale leaked 11 highly classified documents to The Intercept. The documents contained details about US kill lists and civilian casualties of drone strikes, and evidences of war crimes. Of the 11 documents, only 4 were made public. The classification level of the documents ranges from SECRET//SI//NOFORN to TOP SECRET//COMINT.
