On Friday, China has put forward a four-level system to address data security issues, showing its worry about significant data breaches and cyberattacks within its borders.

This plan is introduced at a time of increased geopolitical tensions with the United States and its allies.

It also comes after an incident in which a hacker alleged to have obtained a massive amount of personal data on one billion Chinese individuals from the Shanghai police.

Incidents causing losses exceeding 1 billion yuan ($141 million) and impacting the personal information of more than 100 million individuals, or the "sensitive" information of over 10 million individuals, will be categorized as "particularly serious."

In such cases, a red warning must be issued.

According to the plan, when red or orange warnings are issued, the companies involved and the relevant local regulatory authorities must establish a 24-hour work schedule to handle the incident.

Additionally, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) must be informed of the data breach within ten minutes of its occurrence, along with other necessary measures.

How the hell is a company can inform the government of a data breach within ten minutes??
The US should learn from this...
