Hii, recently i had a conversation with an user who made me thinking ab usign a VPN (in my case Mullvad).
Are those VPN actually "safe" ?
Is it better to build my own one? If "Yes", which software as OpenVPN or Wireguard sould i use?

My main topic is to hide my original IP, is not much to have an access point trought the internet but just hide my real IP.

IMO no. VPNs aren't safe. Well 99% of them. Mullvad is the only VPN I trust and it depends on who u are trying to hide from. I think small companies and other people are fine. But if you are trying to hide from the cia that won't be enough. But again just my opinion.

Using a VPN set up by yourself will obviously much more safer then you think, use Wireguard as it's the latest cool toy. As for location for hosting, you need to make sure you know the jurisdictions of that country. Choose a country where laws aren't that matured and exploitable. It's an hassle but mullvad is doing a great job right now. (not recommending mullvad)

Using a VPN set up by yourself will obviously much more safer then you think, use Wireguard as it's the latest cool toy. As for location for hosting, you need to make sure you know the jurisdictions of that country. Choose a country where laws aren't that matured and exploitable. It's an hassle but mullvad is doing a great job right now. (not recommending mullvad)

do u have any hostig service to suggest ? I have been searching for a while, found some here on BF but dunno...

VPN's arent ussualy safe, tbf alot of them are just "honeypots". Of course there ARE a few trusted ones, i will just reccomend using Mullvad VPN since it's one of the only VPN's that i trust and have been using for a bit rn.

Me too but i'll prefer to build my own one
I just have to find a good hosting provider.

Can't suggest any particular ones, it's not recommended to listen to a person who suggests one. You've to do your own research.
