I've been following this topic for a few years, and I was wondering what your opinions were. What are the implications of these becoming widely available to anybody with access to a 3D printer, a workbench, and a hardware store? Although not everyone will be able to piece together such an intricate design, perhaps they will be sold pre-built by underground arms dealers, either because it's cheaper than smuggling them into the country, or they are unable to for some other reason. We've already seen such tools in use by rebels in places like Myanmar. Despite all the FUD that was spread around by the media, the weapons are actually quite sturdy - but of course craftsmanship is everything ;)
If you've never heard of this, there's an interesting documentary about it here:

I always figured that after a few high-profile incidents involving custom firearms, private citizens will be restricted from owning fabbers sophisticated enough to produce certain key parts. Maybe if that doesn't work, they'll amp up strangle controls on ammunition.

Wow, manufacturing of weapons using 3D printers is interesting, this will revolutionize the market for the sale of weapons, over time it will be improved and can withstand higher firepower, thanks for the information.

It is easy to buy weapons anyway. Who ever wants to find a weapon they can do so if they search hard enough - and that's not to hard. I don't think 3d printed weapons will make it significantly easier. You will still need to know how to build one.

It's easy in US & CA to buy guns, but for the rest of the world i think its not that easy This forum account is currently banned. I mean, it really is an insult. I'd rather die from a peanut allergy.

Well it is definitely gonna make it easier to get a weapon
However , 3d printers can produce effectively some parts of an arm but surely not everything , or not the same quality ad a real industry.
