I consider it the earliest source of politics / propaganda. It was a means to control people that still continues to do so today, often mixed with modern day governments.

I consider religion as early evidence of self-awareness of mortal creatures on a rock that drifts into the void. I can legitimately understand that we can define religion as an earliest source of politics / propaganda too. But if someone could tell me how to build a society without any kind of beliefs and common sense i'm all ear out ?

what are your guys thoughts on religion? do you believe in a higher power?

I think religion is not such a big thing as what it was before. It used to be the main idea Humans had that might explain everything: how they exist, how the world was made, etc... Which is understandable since we didn't know anything about sciences. Some already abused it in the past to do wars, to justify acts, and more.
But now, it's just a belief some people believe in to comfort themselves, or because they've been told that a god exists since they're born, so they obviously take that as a fundamental truth.
In the end, it's just a good belief that saves some people in bad situations (eg: depression) and it kills others because of those who abuse it (eg: syria). It doesn't bother anyone, as long as people keep their religion private (unlike.... you know).

every human need spirituality, that's why every empire raised on top, animated by something strong

some of them find it in religion, others by yoga or sect or mother nature or universe...
that give you the confidence needed to stand up in this world, resist anxiety, depression, not falling in drugs, being addict

I personally believe in a higher power, but I don't believe in any religion. there is way too many religions to count and all of them says they are right. but if everybodys right than most people are wrong and thats just a odd im not willing to take for myself. put myself through religious events just at the end of life to be told i supported the wrong one? no thanks im okay.
