it all depends on what you are trying to do. you can use a vm and try different versions of linux out to see which one you like best then go with that one, that way it's easy to bring one up to check out and delete if you dont like it

Yeah, like others here have said it depends on what you do on your system. Windows is becoming comically unusable, unfortunately. However, the majority of programs are still written for it, so you're sometimes stuck with emulating it on Linux, if you use that. Linux itself has become quite stable now. MacOS is fine, but you feel constricted when using it. It also has many "privacy-violating" features which are highly difficult to remove. On Windows, you can at least use a custom version to remove them.

If you just want to browse the web, use whichever you like. If you want to program: depends on what programs you're writing, which will determine your OS. If you're an office worker, use Windows, etc.

It really comes down to what you're using it for. If it's something like gaming or just causal usage then go for windows 11 (You can go with Windows 10 but it will soon be EOL), if you're programming or are in cybersecurity then i'd recommend using a mixture of Linux and windows since you'll kinda need both but you'll end up using Linux a little more then windows. As if for which Linux system to go with... yea it's your choice. Personally i'd go with Mint, Debian or even ubuntu but ubuntu is not really what it used to be.
