Gone are the days of grappling with clunky third-party software for both your phone and PC. Thanks to an idea adopted from iOS 16, Android 14 streamlines the process. Now, all you need to do is connect your Android phone to your PC via USB, and it'll be recognized as a webcam, compatible with any platform supporting webcams.
As of February 2024, this feature isn't universally available on all devices running Android 14 or later. Currently, it's accessible for Google Pixel and Motorola phones, excluding Samsung Galaxy and OnePlus devices. However, we anticipate broader implementation across devices in the future.
To set it up, simply plug your Android device into your Windows, Mac, or Linux PC using a USB cable. A notification will pop up on your Android device indicating "Charging this device via USB"—select it. Then, opt for "Webcam" under the "Use USB For" section.
