I think Gear 5 is an amazing addition to the One Piece anime. It's a visually stunning transformation, and the animation is top-notch. Luffy's new abilities are also very creative and powerful, and they've really changed the way he fights.

I totally agree with what sunj9710 said! I think the animation is incredible, although I think a big part of episode 1071 was wasted on recycling scenes. I'm looking forward to 1072, which will already be all full gear 5.

I understand that from the outside Gear 5 may look weird and be a shock if you were expecting an epic and serious transformation like the ultrainstinct in Dragon Ball. But I think Gear 5 is in line with the tone of the work and being different makes it special.

Its portrayal of the fifth gear isn't a perfect parody of Western aesthetics, it's more like a cartoon, but it does do everything it needs to do.

I think the greatest thing about Gear 5 is how unique it is. I don’t think it’s as “cool” as super sayan or Naruto’s transformations, but “cool” is not the intent here.

The One Piece manga's portrayal of Luffy's Gear 5 is awesome, but the anime's adaptation makes it even more powerful in ways the manga never could.

IMO about Gear 5 is the animation for Gear 5 in One Piece perfectly captures the tone and importance of Luffy's transformation through bold and creative choices.
