Zuckerberg just announced that Facebook (or Meta, whatever) is ditching its fact-checking system. Instead, they’re rolling out something like Musk’s “Community Notes” on X. According to Zuck, the old system was too biased, made too many mistakes - Lol no shit

 So what do you think? Was Zuckerberg just reacting to pressure, or was this all baked into the plan from the start

Trump and the incoming Republican administration have made clear that they feel free speech controls are weaponized against them. So, in part Zuckerberg is bending the knee in the hope of minimizing what regulation is imposed by legislation. As for complaining about foreign governments, well, he is probably looking for protection from the US Government from places like Germany, which want like super-mega-ultra-censorship. More generally he just wants a place at the table. Since Trump doesn't like him and is vengeful, he is in a bit of a bind.
