Though you may not think it, both questions have the same answer:
The hack is on the social engineering side and goes like this:
"I am hot gamer girl. Oops I lost my credit card. Can you buy botnet for me so we can be together in the matrix?"
The trick runs so deep that you can even say that on the DN there are, in fact, only two genders:
1) pretending to be hot woman
2) being thirsty for said hot woman and losing precious BTC fast
so, my dear BF user, which gender are you/did you used to be that one time 10 yrs ago when your opsec was shit?

EDIT: the trick works best of the person pretending to be a hot gamer girl also runs their own "botnet renting service" where boo then has to pay top monero for absolute jack. Turns out 1337 h4xors think themselves immune to social engineering attacks and make for ideal victims.
