I'm amazed at the horrible production quality of videoclips these days.
Like, if you look at videoclips from 2000 to 2010 (like Black Eyed Peas, Akon, etc.), or older, you see that they were really produced and they were really cool to watch. But nowadays you either see butts or guns and that's it.
Would this be the fault of music streaming services?

My timing could be off but I think it is at least partially because of streaming services and the way people consume music now. Not long ago MTV and Vevo on youtube were the ways to watch music videos. But the last big music video I remember seeing when other people were interested in seeing it was 'This is America' from Donald Glover. 

I think streaming services separated the video aspect from the main way people actually listen to music, which is good for those artists who can't financially make videos - but not great for music videos themselves. I have gotten a kick out of a few of DaBaby's music videos. While they still have a lot of the guns n ass parts of music videos that I dislike - he does attempt to tell a compelling story in a creative way.

I think that nowadays music videos have not become so necessary anymore. A Wendesday edit with Lady Gaga's song has already caused a hit on Tiktok.
