Old Commodore 128 (It is essentially a Commodore 64 that can do more, but also compatible with the original) and BBC Micro are some of the systems I want to get when I eventually get another desk free to set one up, but as of now an Acorn A5000 or other Archimedes system would be something I am on the look out for. A good few made it over the channel into continental Europe. RISC OS is something I might want to explore more in the future.

This is a very nice hobby. I just remember how I used to do things with DOS/Windows 3.11 and Mac OS Classic. I still own some of these old machines. Hardware was shitty expensive back then.

How do you stare at that CRT monitor/TV knowing it can shower you with glass and release deadly phosphorus fumes at any point in time?

Not very likely. The few times I saw one "implode" was due to mechanical damage from bad handling and not spontaneously. Also that implosion was, well, not really explosion like with glass debris flying all around that place. Deadly phosphorus? Certainly not. I think they are deadliest when you drop them on your head from a 10 story building.
