Imagine waking up one day to find that money, in any form, no longer exists. No more cash, no digital currencies, no gold-backed systems, and no substitute like Bitcoin.

How would the world adjust, and what kind of system would replace the concept of exchanging money for goods and services?
Would we revert to barter, with individuals directly exchanging resources, skills, and products? 
Or would we develop something entirely new? Consider also the implications for motivation and innovation. 

In today's world, financial incentives drive much of the workforce and technological progress: If that disappeared, what would motivate people to work or create?

The proposed scenario seems unlikely to me. People would find substitutes. It might be quite similar to the way people would adapt if cash disappeared in the all-digital age. People would still want to do off-the-books transactions so some cash-equivalent like food or silver beads or standardized jewellery or something would become the norm.

I cannot see some form of mechanism for determining access to goods and services not existing.

Money at it's root is just a very intelligent way to store work done today without needing to spend the proceeds of your work right away.

Someone needs a house built, but you currently don't need anything at all.
Without money, you would not build the house because you don't need anything.

With money, you're able to use the proceeds of building the house later, maybe when you're old and weak and unable to build anymore.

In my opinion, money is like the written word, it's a fundamental aspect of human society.

Where there's contention with money is how most governments print money which is actually the theft of our life on earth.
We trade the hours of our life for money, the governments print the same money which causes inflation which erases years of our work (life).

If money didn't exist anymore, there would still be some form of currency. Just like when they used to us livestock (e.g. cows, camels, sheep) and cowrie shells as form of payments in the B.C. times.

Hmmmm, I have not been expecting this forum to be the ground for philosofical searches! This could only happen in a completely sefless society! Everyone should offer for the common intest, love, friendship, peace, respect, nature, agriculture, justice, lack of greed, self sufficiency would necessary condition for this world to survive! But, what wonderful world would it be!

It's not easy to always find something that the other needs. You could give a person you trust something you don't need for a promise that they'll repay you. You'd start keeping a list of people that owe you (and how much). You would start standardizing value owed. In a close knitted community you could even trade for a promise that someone else will repay them. In a sense trading IOUs. Then, especially, you would need to start standardizing value. An apple is 1 IOU-unit, an orange is 2. Slowly, this starts to resemble money. Bartering is just way to inefficient to become common place.

There was a time that money did not exist yet. It wasn't easy back then and it is not easy now. In the future if AI takes over all jobs I could see society collapsing because we are not really ready for a society without money.
