AMD Ryzen offers better multi-core performance for VMs. Intel excels in single-core tasks and stability.

AMD is more bang for the bcuk nowadays. But both are good enough.

Why do you need a rig for pentesting? What kind of stuff do you want to focus on? The only reasonable thing I can see that would require a rig is hash cracking.
