Anime is like a Drink, some people like Whisky some Don't, Some like Gin some don't... All of them are popular ? yes, Do you think only the popular ones deserved to be drunk ? No... There are hidden gems like Jaegermeister (Brand But yeah you get the gist)... these are things you know only when you start to drink.. So yeah popularity doesn't mean it's loved by everyone... there are many many many hidden gems.. I personally didn't like Attack on Titan, it became boring after Season 2, same goes for Naruto.... but this might trigger some good AoT and Naruto Fans... I love One Piece.. it's worth the 1000e.p watch..
