Totally agree, why even bother with privacy anymore? lets just open a discord server, and to join you MUST link the account with a phone number just to be sure.

XMPP group chat would be a horriblle idea because the messages aren't end-to-end crypted on those - or even encrypted at all if I am correct. Element is also nice but I have heard good things about Simple-X too
