First extract the Hash: 
Use the rar2john tool to extract the password hash from the RAR file

rar2john protected.rar > hash.txt

Use John the Ripper to crack the extracted hash.

john --format=rar --wordlist=/path/to/wordlist.txt hash.txt

If is not important for you, can change to 7zip. Is an open source program similar a winrar.
