I wouldn't collect bees to be a bee keeper, but I do like honey so will often go to my local beeshop and get some so its actually fresh and not with all the chemicals you get nowadays.

Beekeeping is definitely something I want to do when I retire; being able to help those who have severe allergies in the area, will greatly improve their lives. Bees usually don't go further than 5 miles from their hives, which makes it great for locals that need help or new comers to the area who need help with allergies. The cost isn't too much, I don't think, so it should be a worth while investment once you get a producing hive.
