Hi felas, I am following the whole story with LockBit and I was wondering : why do they had some infrastructures outside of Russia?

According to this French article (https://www.numerama.com/cyberguerre/163...inels.html), the police seized 34 servers in Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Australia, US, UK and France....

I mean, if their infrastructure was fuly located in Russia or in the CIS, it would have been untouchable right?
Does someone know what is the point of having servers in Europe when operating a ransomware?

LockBit, like many cybercriminal organizations, may use servers outside Russia for operational security, to evade law enforcement, and to ensure uninterrupted operations in case of crackdowns or disruptions in any particular region.

They probably spread servers around to avoid getting shut down all at once. Keeping everything in one place is risky. Plus, it's harder for authorities to take them all down if they're scattered across different countries. Just a guess, though. What do you think?
