i believe when u sign up using ur personal phone number it is hidden from everyone else, unless you add someone from your contacts
so you could still use your personal phone number
depends on the use case. for lurking around it's fine. if you want to do shady stuff load up some bucks on any sms site you like and buy any cheap telegram number. after that you activate two step verification and you good to go
yeah im thinking about joining some things so ill prob load up a number or use someones i know if that would work?

I was literally coming to post a thread on this exact topic so I'll just jump in this one instead. What's your preferred method to create a telegram account because as far as I can tell all of the ways I've heard of or thought of can't be done securely without someone potentially getting access to the phone number used to register later on. All you guys using it is making me think I should look into it but none of the methods seem good to me so far. There are some issues with using sms services that could lead to security problems in the future for your account because you don't actually control that number and this why I haven't used telegram so far.
@ omenay That would be fine if you your only trying to be anonymous to users! But in the event someone is asking telegram for any data they have linked to your account using your phone number that ties to your personal life is some of the most dangerously bad advice I've ever heard from anyone so your either a cop or you really don't understand this topic which in that case you shouldn't be giving advice (consider the kind of cooking forum you are on before giving advice like that.)
@ Paradoxxer Do NOT use a personal identifiable phone number for telegram for ANY reason unless it's your personal telegram account your putting your name on anyway.
