Hello, if you're a complete beginner, start with VulnHub VM and online platform to acquire some basics. Then you can start to learn to protect yourself, OpSec and privacy.
After that, you can start with easy targets that no one cares (low risk for you). Have fun.

I'm as unsure as you. I know a lot of defense, programming, RE, but with offense, don't know where to start. I got someone's email from a free log and saw their emails, that was a cool, but not much there, their account was abandoned for years and just used by spammers who got the same log.
