Hi everyone,
I’m curious about how people manage to unlock iCloud-locked iPhones. Are there legitimate ways to do it, or is it always a lost cause if you don’t have the original owner’s credentials?

I'd say a lost cause, coz even if you unlocked it, you've got an iPhone...

Yah man, you're right about the social engineering, you'd need to go through hoops to get that thing unlocked.
Failing that, just become a Fed and say you need access for an investigation, that might work lol

One time I managed to exploit an iPhone6 that was blocked and requiring icloud credentials.
The fact is:
Exploit exists tenndetially in every software,you have to found them. So,jailbreaking an iPhone is not that hard,but recovering encrypted data actually is.
From my understanding,apple takes you iCLOUD pwd and encrypt your files with a key derived by your PWD. I don't know if the key is stored somewhere flashed on the mobo or if saved in a server (does recovery requires internet? don't think but not sure).
So if you maybe have a blocked iPhone,you can actually manage to unlock it and format it,but you'll obviosly lose all the data stored on it.
Don't know if there is someone out in the wild who broke iCloud security,and I guess if they did,they won't surely tells us so easy. You can really make big money with things like that.
