Examples of when an entire band joined another band?

I can think of three:

Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes, the Buggles, being absorbed into Yes, replacing original vocalist Ian Anderson and keyboardist Rick Wakeman, in the early 80's

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, who had put out a record as Buckingham Nicks, joining Fleetwood Mac in the mid 70's

Coady Willis and Jared Warren, the band Big Business, joining the Melvins in the mid 00's, apparently only Willis has stayed in the band, though

The whole idea of a band absorbianother band is really interesting to me. It usually seems to be a bigger and/or legendary sort of band that absorbs a newer band, often with just two members.

Are there any other examples? If there aren't, this thread can be about interesting one-off collaborations and if there aren't many of those this thread can be about stuff like how Pat Smear was in the Germs and then Nirvana and then the Foo Fighters, etc.

Great examples! Another interesting case is when Ronnie James Dio and his bandmates from Elf joined Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow. After Elf opened for Deep Purple, Blackmore was so impressed that he recruited Dio and his bandmates to form Rainbow in the mid-70s. This is a unique instance of nearly an entire band merging into another, creating a new sound and identity. The phenomenon of bands absorbing other bands, although rare, certainly leads to some fascinating musical collaborations and evolutions.

RATM -> Soundgarden -> Audioslave
