Does anyone have experience in building GPU hash cracking rigs?

Id like to spec one out with 4090's but i dont really know how these rigs even work from a hardware perspective (PSU "Case" motherboard?)

Also first lol

hey

ether miners r still trying to get rid of their old mining rigs

go on craiglist or used products place of choice and look up "crypto mining rigs"
basically skip the whole build it yourself thing, and it comes with gpus
load said system with linux distribution of choice or bsd if your fancy
install drivers if you need help here for linux let me know
basically a hash cracking rig but no effort
if you need more grunt buy some 4090s and slot them in super easy
might need to upgrade power supplies but thats easy to do.

Make sure that the power supply is HUGE (in power) and you can move out the heat. 2x4090 is A LOT of power....

Have Nvidia locked hash rates on those cards still?

On RTX 4090s? People are running 12 RTX 4090s off of a ASRock ROME2D32GM boards and getting close to 1000 TFlops so the real problem is that unless you can rent out some of that hash power consistently you might end up in a situation where the rig costs you money on or off since the investment alone costs a ton and you can't recoup it easily in most cases as GPUs lose value when they sit around unused. You can build a rig, but it might not be worth it to run a rig when you can rent it by the minute.

Way too expensive for 4090's for running hashes , you can get 3080M (mobile variant gpu's) on aliexpress which are really efficient.

also linux only if you go that route.

You saying that mobile/laptop chipsets are capable? Interesting...
